Allegheny Point should begin welcoming its new tenants
in early June.
The building should be essentially ready for occupancy
by early May, according to Bob Yoder of Susquehanna
Development Group, but the sprinkler system will probably
not be installed by then.
June 1 has been the date tentatively set for new tenants
to begin moving in, said Yoder.
Yoder said the building's sprinkler system will be
connected to the geothermal heating system which will
serve the building.
"We have to wait until the lines are in,"
said Yoder. "The well's drilled, the piping is
here, and we're working on the geothermal loop, but
the sprinkler has to be hooked up."
Applicants have yet been notified of whether they
will be tenants of Allegheny Point, said Yoder.
"We're working through the list of applications
at this point," said Yoder. "We haven't told
anyone whether they're in or not."
Yoder said it is not too late to apply for apartments
at Allegheny Point. Applications are available at the
Warren Municipal Building and on the breezepointlanding.com
website.
Allegheny Point will offer 20 one- and two-bedroom
housing units. The street level of the building will
include commercial space.
To rent a unit at Allegheny Point, tenants must be
at least 62 years of age and the age requirement applies
to all the tenants of an apartment.
For two people to qualify financially for a one- or
two-bedroom apartment, the combined household annual
income can be no more than $23,280. For a single person,
the maximum allowable income is set at $20,400.
Sources of income considered include Social Security,
pensions, dividends and bank interest.
Yoder said the question of whether the Warren Senior
Center will be relocated to the lawn level of Allegheny
Point is still unresolved. The board of the senior center
has been considering its options, which include a move
to Allegheny Point.
Yoder said nothing has been decided, but "We're
still working with them."
